Fair warning, some of these books and podcasts are going to seem a bit out there, but I found each and every one of them to be truly fascinating. I'll be honest: I was skeptical about pretty much all of these topics before I dove in and decided that I wanted to learn more. What I've learned has truly changed the way I think about the world and my relationships with myself and others. If you've had a session with me I have likely mentioned at least one of these in our conversations (if not all!) and I've probably sent you a link or two already - now they're all in one spot so when you're looking for something new you know where to come!
Note: I use spotify to listen to my podcasts but I am including the episode name and date so you can find them where ever you usually listen!
"Are We All Psychic?" goop July 5, 2018: This interview with Laura Lynn Jackson is a MUST LISTEN especially if you have lost a loved one. In it she discusses her psychic abilities and how you can connect with your loved ones yourself. I dare you to listen and not start looking for signs....
"How to Become Your Future Self" goop March 21, 2019 & "Dr. Joe Dispenza: How to Heal The Body and Transform the Mind" The School of Greatness July 22, 2019: I am a huge fan of Joe Dispenza because while "manifestation" has become the buzziest word of 2019 he is first I've found who focuses on the science of why and how it works and is able to show real results. He was the first one to convince me that manifestation is a very real phenomenon. If you're into the science, listen to the goop podcast...if you're more into hearing about the concepts minus the deep science, listen to the The School of Greatness podcast.
"Larry Dossey: The Extraordinary Healing Power of Ordinary Things" Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations January 23, 2019: This one has stuck with me for a long time. Larry is a medical doctor and uses this interview to discuss the power of prayer - the studies he cites are absolutely fascinating. Don't worry, it isn't religious at all. This is on my MUST LISTEN list.
"Wayne Dyer: The Art of Manifestation" Oprah's SuperSoul Conversations July 2, 2018: Wayne Dyer has been a huge inspiration to almost everyone who discusses manifestation. This was my introduction to him and his work.
Note: All of these books are available in the Westchester Library System so you don't need to go out and buy anything...and most are so random there is no waiting list!
"How Note to Die" by Michael Greger: Bit of an aggressive title but it is a great read especially if you are battling with any sort of illness or disease. He goes into great detail about how different foods affect (and can help heal) your body and then goes by disease/ailment and discusses what you should and should not be eating and why. If you are at all curious about how what you eat affects your health, this is one to read.
"Integrative Nutrition: Feed Your Hunger for Health & Happiness" by Joshua Rosenthal: This is a great book if you want to understand the different types of diets and how different foods (even how you prepare them!) affect your body.
"Signs: the Secret Language of the Universe" by Laura Lynne Jackson: This book will truly make you a believer as story after story illustrates how our loved ones can communicate with us if we are open to it. After reading it, you'll know that there is no such thing as coincidence.
"The Law of Attraction: The basics of the Teachings of Abraham" by Esther Hicks: I had no clue abut Abraham or that this was the basis of "The Secret" so clearly I was late to the party but if you want to understand manifestation this is the place to start. Yes, there are many parts that are cheesy and weird but ignore that, focus on the core ideas and you'll have a strong foundation for understanding the process of manifestation.
"Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One" by Joe Dispenza: I have read a few of his books but this one remains my favorite. It is the perfect one to read if you are looking to understand his method and begin practicing it. There is a set of meditations that you can do too (they come on separate CDs) - try one of them once. It is an interesting experience....
"Energy Medicine: The Science and Mystery of Healing" by Jill Blakeway: I was not a believer in energy healing (reiki) before I read this book - I thought it was all fake. After reading this, however, and experiencing for myself a feeling she describes in the book I am a believer...although I do still believe there are a lot of fakes out there!
"Journey of Souls: Cases Studies of Life Between Lives" and "Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives" by Michael Newton: OK, I'll admit both of these are OUT THERE - yes in all caps - but if you are at all curious about death and the afterlife you need to at least read "Journey of Souls." It is done in an interview format so you feel like you are sitting in the room with people as they describe their experiences and it is truly fascinating.
